One of my favourite techniques is sgrafitto, etching out a design from a coloured ground.
These deep bowls are great as you can decorate the outside in a contrasting pattern.

I started making a set for a friend to jazz up a vintage coat - then working on a different scale appealed after making a batch of bigger pieces. Now I try to do a few at the end of each batch of casting slip.
Alphabet buttons - individual deep green letters on an off-white earthenware square.
Hogweed buttons - simple black and white squares.
Black and white, always my favourite colourway.
